So You Want to Buy an Epson Printer

6 June, 2007 | Leave a Comment

Before you dash off to the electronics superstore, be sure you’re making an informed decision. Perhaps I can help. Let’s pretend you have two options:

A) buy an Epson printer

B) withdraw the money needed to buy the Epson printer from the bank, then set your cash on fire and watch it burn into a pile of ash

If these are the only two choices, I heartily recommend option B. Yes, it would suck to watch your money literally go up in flames. But based on my own personal experience, the end result of option A and option B are exactly the same — and option B will cause you a lot less aggravation in the long-run.

  1. Yikes!

    Sorry to hear..what happened?

  2. It has been a complete piece of junk from Day One. Worst printer I have ever owned or ever used. Total waste of money!

  3. Yep Epson and Brother brands are not very good. HP though has some great printers and they last a long time. I had to get a new one because I couldn’t get ink cartidges for the old one.

  4. I love my Hewlett Packard Laserjet 4L which is over ten year old and still going strong.

I agree about Epson- I have a color printer- Epson brand- and it’s a piece of sh*t.

  5. Get an HP and worry no more.
And don’t bother with inkjets, either, go for laser unless you want to print photos, then get a specialist photo printer (HP 8150, in our case).

Or take it in to Uni and print things there…

  6. Gail — sorry to disagree with you, but I love my Brother products. I have a printer, that’s about 6 years old and works perfectly, a laser fax machine and a copier. They have amazing customer service, and if your machine is out of warranty, you don’t have to “pay” to talk to someone to get advice or have questions answered. Sorry if your experience hasn’t been more favourable.

    Hi Anglo! How are you?

  7. Everyone hates Epson! YAY!

I bought this printer when I first moved to London. I normally buy HP printers, but the Epson was a lot cheaper and I was poor. Sigh. As is often the case when one purchases things based solely on price, I will end up spending *more* money in the long-run. Grrrr…

  8. Thanks Lillie for your input. I’m glad that Brother works for you.

Hi Anglo, I’m looking forward to your London pics.

I love my HP printer. It’s a desktop, but a little workhorse. :)
