a little night music

25 June, 2007 | Leave a Comment

It was a lazy Sunday. Aerosmith played a concert in Hyde Park tonight — which meant they were also playing a concert inside my bedroom. This weekend was the Hyde Park Calling festival. Aerosmith were the loudest I’ve heard play from the park by far. But then, I’d expect nothing less from a Boston band. I could actually hear the songs perfectly and could sing along. [Listen for yourself.] I am quite far from the bandstand, believe it or not. Damn, Steven Tyler has a big mouth. I can’t imagine living in this neighborhood permanently — these festivals are really quite a nuisance. But tonight was kinda cool because I like Aerosmith. And it was just surreal to look out into the stormy London sky in my pajamas and hear Aerosmith playing live. This is my last weekend in this place (sigh) and so I don’t mind having that as a memory.

I’ve been taking lots of photos lately, mostly of clouds. I’ve taken more than 500 photos over the past couple days. Five hundred. I am not normal. I am a strange girl who is obsessed with clouds. I can’t stop looking at the sky. [This is a video of yesterday's storm.] And I’ve discovered a passion for swan feet. Here are a few photos…for no reason, really. Just ’cause. Can I just say: This is a big week for me. I hope things go my way.

  1. That’s a lovely one of the Eye, and that last one is just soooo tranquil…
(Not too sure what you see in swan’s feet, but hey, each to their own!)

  2. Thanks Mr. X! Swan feet are just so *cute*. Plus, have you ever really looked at swan feet? Most people haven’t. They are the less glamorous, less photographed side of the swan. The gritty aspect of the swan. That’s what I’m after. Investigative photojournalism.

  3. I agree with the cute factor. There’s something about them that’s just so… ridiculous compared with the rest of their bodies. And yet, you can’t imagine them having any other sort of feet attached to their bodies instead.

And there’s nothing wrong with taking loads of photos. That’s how you find the really good ones. Last night we had a great sunset and I thought taking a shot of it to show you, but I was driving and there was really no good place to stop over. Perhaps later this week I’ll catch one.

  4. what camera do you use?

  5. Rebecca: Ooh, a sunset photo for me? Yay!

Matt: My camera is the Panasonic DMC-FZ5. Mine is 2 years old, so the new version is a bit different. But I hope you’re not implying that my fab photography has *anything* to do with my camera? ;)

  6. oh no, of course not, I’m just curious as I might get a new one at the end of the year.

  7. One fresh Arizona sunset, captured just a few hours ago. Go see!

  8. Rebecca, I just saw it. Fantastic! I have a new member in the sunset cult. ;)
