I think it’s time I finish writing about my trip home in more detail. Later this week I’m going to Paris and you know that means — beaucoup de photos! If I don’t finish going through the photos from my American trip now, I’ll never get to them.
One of the most noteworthy aspects of my trip home was that I didn’t experience any culture shock really. I hadn’t been home for over a year, but once I got there it felt as if I’d never left. Likewise, when I came back to London nothing seemed foreign. I guess this is a good sign. Of course, my trip was a bit of a whirlwind, so it’s possible I didn’t have time to relax for long enough to even register that I was in a different country.
Somewhere over the Atlantic between London and Philly, I took this photo:
I thought it looked like we were about to land on the surface of the moon. BTW, on the plane I sat next to a preacher from Sierra Leone who was obsessed with Hillary Clinton and he assured me she would be the next president.
I landed in Philly to spend a few days with my dear friend William, D- and their furry children. I didn’t see much of Philly beyond this on the way home from the airport:

Instead, I spent my time in tranquil New Jersey (yes, New Jersey can be tranquil). The next day we went to the picturesque towns of Lambertville, NJ and New Hope, PA [Bucks County], which sit on the banks of the Delaware River directly across from each other. New Hope:
Lambertville:
Maximum quaintness. In New Hope, we had lunch at the Blue Tortilla Restaurant, which serves yummy (and quite pricey) Mexican food. Mexican food is at the top of the list of foods I miss the most. A margarita:
Guacamole:
They of course serve corn chips with the guacamole, but also, rather strangely…tortillas, which are very filling. This means that by the time your entrĂ©e arrives, you feel like you’re going to throw up:
Oh, and here’s my main course (chicken flautas) somewhere under all that sauce:
On the way home, we stopped at Washington Crossing State Park (where George Washington crossed the Delaware) because I saw these trees reflected in the water. Nothing sends me into a frenzy like trees and sky reflected in water. I was very hyper to get out and take a look (who, me hyper? me bossy? me demanding?):
Speaking of bitches, here’s William’s puppy, a beagle called Winn-Dixie:

Having two divas in the house was quite stressful for everyone! Luckily, the next day it was off to New York. To be continued…

Ah, New Hope. Built for people passing through. And it has the dubious honor of being the place where Jessica Savitch died. Bucks County would be perfect, if only it didn’t have winter. Great pics.

The guacamole is the best at Blue Tortilla. They’re famous for having the best guacamole in Bucks County.
By the way, that dog is the greatest looking pup I’ve ever seen!!!
(Doesn’t your friend have two dogs? I guess you weren’t too fond of the other one…)

Fun photos. I miss New Hope.
