Yesterday, I wrote about how Obama considers it a smear when people say he’s a Muslim. Well, above you can see the proof, taken directly from Obama’s official website. “The smear” is that “Barack Obama is secretly a Muslim.” You’ll notice it doesn’t say “Muslim extremist” or “Muslim fundamentalist.” It just says “Muslim.”

I really wish Obama would explain why he thinks being a Muslim is so bad and why he considers being linked with Islam a smear. Perhaps he has perfectly valid reasons for this point of view, but we’ll never know unless he explains himself. This website makes it seems as if he’s playing into Islamophobic fear-mongering in order to garner votes. This information comes directly from an official Obama website called Fight the Smears, which debunks other religious smears, such as Obama being sworn in as a senator with the Koran. Obama’s main campaign website contains even more of this stuff.

What if it weren’t Islam at question here, but Judaism? Would Obama’s website say: “The Smear: Barack Obama is secretly a Jew.” I can’t imagine it.

I really wish Obama’s supporters would take a break from calling The New Yorker racist and check out the bigotry right on their own candidate’s website.

   Uh. I audibly gasped when I read “The Smear: Barack Obama is secretly a Jew.” Imagine.

   But yeah, sure, this Muslim business is just a-o-k. Gawd.

   Excellent argument. How can you run as the unity candidate and then create intolerant statements in defense of your campaign?

   I like how The Daily Show put it:

   “The only people who get upset over cartoons depicting Muslim Extremists are MUSLIM EXTREMISTS.”
