Just when I begin to worry that too many of my fellow Americans have lost their minds, Jon Stewart saves the day.
Obama’s campaign responded to the NY’er cover by calling it “tasteless and offensive.” Jon Stewart thinks they should have responded like this:
“You know what your response should’ve been? It’s very easy: Barack Obama is in no way upset about the cartoon that depicts him as a Muslim extremist. Because you know who gets upset about cartoons? Muslim extremists! Of which Barack Obama is not. It’s just a f*cking cartoon!”

I don’t think Muslims like cartoons denigrating their prophet any more than Catholics like the Pope or Jesus being similarly treated. It just upsets people. -
Forgive me if I got this wrong but isn’t Obama’s stand on racism is that it should be out in the open, and addressed more? And that the insidious prejudices has been growing in the under belly of America because the average Americans have been tip toeing around the subject, affraid of being perceived a racist?

Ang: Yes, exactly. This cartoon puts the issue of race more front and center. As we’ve seen, the reaction has been explosive. I have defended the cartoon and people have called me racist for that, which I find outrageous. Many Americans (including Obama) are uncomfortable discussing the issue of race and just want to pretend it doesn’t exist.
