To see their callousness stated so causually is shocking, and thanks for posting that quote.

Some funfeminists probably like to think that when wombs are rare, then those walking uteruses will be valued -- but historically this proves to be false. In cultures where males don't have enough walking uteruses to go around, males tend to rape, kidnap, etc far more. It's that old entitlement mentality again. Men will do anything rather than be deprived of a walking uterus, especially if one is running around town minding her own business without a man -- which is why the men in power will carefully restrict women's legal and social environment such that females are not allowed independence. And the only way to justify subjegation is by claiming that women are not as worthy, capable, etc, as a man. So the cycle of female as second class human continues infinitely.

There really isn't any benefit, either short-term or long-term, to genocide of females.

P.Viktor is correct: this story has been out there for years. These Asian societies are conducting the most swful, downright criminal exercise in social engineering the world has ever seen. The large chemistry experiment we have been conducting on our atmosphere for over two hundred years pale in comparison.

Anglofille, you have eloquently stated the issue so I won't repeat it. The destabilzing effect of gendercide on these socities figures to be horrific. Henry VIII never conceived of anything like this.

The quote you pulled is beyond shocking, even though I have read about this issue before. To dehumanise a baby so utterly - "It's not a child" - is an example of the grossest patriarchal ignorance and in my mind evil. For a women to give birth and have her child murder before her - really incomprehensible. It's like have Henry VIII back.

I won't go into one too much about this, but I feel I should point out that they were given new identities at huge cost to the taxpayer because, at the time of the trial, the tabloid press were demanding to know their names (it is standard to refer to defendents in such cases as Boy A and Boy B). As a result, they had no option but to give them new identities. I find it rather laughable that some people are now complaining about tax payers money being wasted on their protection when if they hadn't have made a fuss about knowing their names in the first place, they wouldn't have had to spend money creating new identities. It just about sums up the short-term thinking of the populist press.

Isn't this what one would expect from Howard Stern? America has made him rich by listening to his obnoxious rants. He is lowest of the low class media trash who have become mega-millionaires because we allow them to flourish as they wallow in their ownn feces.

Some societies discourage empathy – such as the 40% of Americans in one study that are OK with torture. Most of these people would not engage in torture themselves, but do not mind if the government does so in their name.

Uh, yeah, okay.

two kids taking their frustrations out on a two year old

If that's all it is, why don't we see more of these cases? This happened 17 years ago and there's been hardly anything else like it since. I suppose you wouldn't mind if these guys moved next door to you, dated your child and babysat your kid. In order to take the stance you're taking, you'd have to be okay with all of that.

I've got to stop being told about what is going on here.

RE: I think that gender is socially constructed, which is what I write about a lot on this blog. That doesn’t mean I think we’re all a blank slate at birth. I think we all have certain traits that are in our genes, which influence our individual behavior

That would be an interplay between nature and nurture. It would mean that, while some things are bad for everyone, an incongruency between nature and nurture could also damaging. Having behaviours associated with Conduct Disorder do increase the likelihood of having Anti-Social Personality Disorder as an adult, but a lot of people with CD do not develop ASPD.

RE: Maybe they have certain character traits (narcissism, lack of empathy

Some societies discourage empathy - such as the 40% of Americans in one study that are OK with torture. Most of these people would not engage in torture themselves, but do not mind if the government does so in their name.

Kids can't handle anger or jealousy or frustration as well as can adults, are more easily manipulated and less likely to think things through before acting. The two year old who pulls the cat's tail doesn't fully understand why they get scratched. Ten year olds are more apt to act out behaviours they've witnessed or experienced that are adults.

Adults are more able to comprehend the harm we inflict on others than are children who may underestimate said harm. Still, there are adults who only look at how things affect themselves and care very little about how they affect others - look at the oil industry! Look at the people who set up those ponzi schemes! Look at the fragrance industry who package toxic poisons in bottles and then sell them to people. They know more what they are doing than two kids taking their frustrations out on a two year old - either because there was no one else they could lash out at or because they held the two year old to a hire standard of behaviour than two year olds are capable of - and punished the two year old for failing to act like a 10 year old.
